Tim Robbins Criticizes Democrats And Media For ‘Thuggish Censorship’

Actor Tim Robbins, known for his role in “The Shawshank Redemption,” criticized Democrats and the mainstream media for “thuggish censorship.”

Robbins praised the reporting of Twitter Files journalists Matt Taibbi, Michael Shellenberger, and Bari Weiss. He thanks the journalists for “exposing a massive censorship operation by the U.S. government to control content on social media and eliminate any dissenting voices.”

Robbins said the mainstream media “ignored” acts of censorship in the U.S. and that Americans’ personal freedoms are being diminished.

The actor named and criticized three Democrats for threatening Taibbi with prosecution and imprisonment over his reporting of the Twitter Files, Reps. Jerry Nadler (D-NY), Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), and Stacey Plaskett (D-VI).

“What an embarrassing, shameful time for the Democrats and the ‘free’ press,” Robbins wrote on Twitter. “You are losing any shred of credibility you had, you f—— fools.”

Robbins also demanded that WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange be released from prison. In 2018, the Department of Justice (DOJ) charged Assange with conspiring to commit computer intrusion through his involvement with former U.S. Army soldier Chelsea Manning and WikiLeaks.

Robbins recently told Variety that he’s always been curious about a leader’s thought process when they must act “morally compromising” for the “greater good.”

“I always look at that as a terrible no-win situation. And I often wonder if those measures that they take, that are immoral, are necessary,” Robbins said.

“I’m talking about politicians that compromise themselves and make decisions that they believe are for the good of people, but those decisions involve censorship or lying or deception of some kind that leads to people getting hurt,” Robbins added.

“And I wanted to play that guy, I want to deal with that moral complexity in trying to understand where the human being is. I think we’ve been through three and a half years of extraordinary and questionable choices made by people that are supposed to be leading their countries,” he continued.

Robbins also criticized the government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, calling some of its policies “Orwellian.” He believes Americans became “tribal, angry, and vengeful” because of the pandemic.
