Taylor Swift Draws Criticism For Sending Cease-And-Desist Letter

Pro-abortion singer Taylor Swift is drawing criticism after her lawyer sent college student Jack Sweeney a cease-and-desist letter for tracking her private jet and publishing his findings on social media.

Sweeney runs social media accounts that track not only Swift but other celebrities’ private jets as well. He uses publicly available flight data and measures the carbon pollution levels of each celebrity’s flight.

“While this may be a game to you, or an avenue that you hope will earn you wealth or fame, it is a life-or-death matter for our Client. Ms. Swift has dealt with stalkers and other individuals who wish her harm,” the cease-and-desist letter said.

Sweeney told Business Insider that he has an appreciation for some of Swift’s music and also has no intention of causing harm to any of the celebrities that he tracks. Sweeney said that he manages the accounts to provide transparency and public information.

“I think the people are interested,” Sweeney texted. “You should have a decent expectation that your jet will be tracked, whether or not I do it as, after all, it is public information.”

Swift’s attorneys have chosen to send the letter to Sweeney when the pop star is just days away from what could be one of the most closely watched private jet trips in recent history.

According to Breitbart, “She’s about to play four nights at the Tokyo Dome, with her last gig on Saturday night — one day before her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and his Kansas City Chiefs play the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl in Las Vegas.”

In response to the letter from Swift’s attorneys, Sweeney reached out to the “Electronic Frontier Foundation,” a nonprofit that exists to “defend digital privacy, free speech, and innovation.” They connected Sweeney to James Slater, a Florida-based attorney.

“Sweeney engaged in protected speech that does not violate any of Ms. Swift’s legal rights,” Slater said, calling Swift’s letter “unfounded.”

Sweeney has made headlines before including last summer when he shared real-time information about the private jets of other celebrities including Bill Gates, Kim Kardashian, and Elon Musk.
