Georgia Gov. Announces State Of Emergency To Address Domestic Terrorists

In the wake of violent protests in Atlanta by far-left terrorists demonstrating against the building of a law enforcement training facility, Gov. Brian Kemp (R-GA) has announced a 15-day state of emergency that empowers him to summon the National Guard to deal with any other uprisings that may occur.

As Kemp detailed in his five-page executive order:

WHEREAS: In consultation with public safety officials and emergency preparedness officials, I have determined that the following actions are necessary and appropriate to protect public peace and provide for the safety and welfare of Georgia’s citizens, visitors, and property.

NOW, THEREFORE, PURSUANT TO THE AFOREMENTIONED GEORGIA LAW, CODE SECTION 38-3-51, CODE SECTION 45-12-29, AND THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY

ORDERED: That because of unlawful assemblage, violence, overt threats of violence, disruption of the peace and tranquility of this state, and danger existing to persons and property, a State of Emergency is declared in the State of Georgia.

Kemp’s declaration comes as tensions are anticipated to increase this weekend after five Memphis police officers have been put up on murder charges following the death of an arrested suspect.

“The continued anti-police movement in Atlanta could also be further inflamed by the charging of five former Memphis police officers with second-degree murder and other crimes in the arrest and death of Tyre Nichols, a Black motorist who died three days after a traffic stop confrontation,” Fox 5 reports. “Body camera video of the incident is expected to be released on Friday evening.”

The Atlanta Police Department put out a statement condemning Memphis police for the passing of the aforementioned suspect and called for protesters to not act in a violent manner.

“Police officers are expected to conduct themselves in a compassionate, competent, and constitutional manner and these officers failed Tyre, their communities, and their profession,” the statement said. “We ask that demonstrations be safe and peaceful.”

Kemp’s executive order allows for any state resources to be pulled from in order to respond to the emergency.

Gov. Kemp captured attention earlier this month after it was revealed he was a guest at this year’s 2023 meeting of the World Economic Forum. He refused to speak after receiving questions from a reporter of Rebel News, who among other things, asked, “Given the price of inflation: Meat, eggs, milk, things like that in Georgia… How does it feel going to a five-star luxury hotel event in the Swiss Alps?”
