Bannon Grills Cassidy Hutchinson For Modifying Jan. 6 Testimony

Prominent political strategist Steve Bannon recently grilled a former White House staffer under former President Donald Trump, Cassidy Hutchinson, for lying about the then-president’s actions leading up to the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol protests and modifying previous testimony to Congress.

Bannon, who hosts “Bannon’s War Room,” recently had attorney Julie Kelly as a guest on his podcast, where he said that Hutchinson “perjured herself” and “bald-faced lied” about Trump’s role in the Jan. 6 protests.

Bannon reacted as Kelly described how Hutchinson changed her initial testimony to the now-dissolved Jan. 6 Committee.

“Are you telling me now, Cassie Hutchinson, who’s been: ‘Oh, this has taken down Trump,’ She’s taken Trump down on every TV show, wrote a worthless book. She went everywhere, got millions of dollars — she’s changing her testimony under the cover of night?” Bannon asked, to which Kelly responded, “Yes, she is.”

Hutchinson, alongside her legal team, submitted a 15-page erratum of her testimony to the Jan. 6 Committee. Simply put, an erratum is a correction of text that has been published.

Before turning on Trump, Hutchinson had served as a House Republican staffer and was on the staff of then-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, who served under Trump.

In her testimony to the Democratic-led Jan. 6 Committee in 2022, Hutchinson falsely claimed that one of Trump’s Secret Service agents at the time, Tony Ornato, told her that the leader of the then president’s Secret Service detail, Bobby Engel, had to wrestle Trump in the presidential limousine to keep him from steering toward the Capitol.

Hutchinson added that after Engel told Trump they would not be traveling to the Capitol, the former president lunged at the Secret Service agent with his fist.

Ornato and Engel later testified before the Jan. 6 Committee, but such testimonies, which Democrats promised to release, never reached the public.

“That transcribed video recording and interview is nowhere to be found,” Kelly said. “Taking aside from the videos, you have hundreds of transcribed interviews that are still missing.”

Bannon said that the Jan. 6 Committee was partisan and flawed since its formation, adding that it failed to verify any of the evidence it presented during hearings.

“This stinks to high heaven,” he said. “Normally, they say it’s a coverup, not the crime — this is the crime.”

Bannon continued by saying there must be accountability for the Jan. 6 Committee’s lack of transparency on the Jan. 6 protests.

“We’re going to get to the bottom of this because this is outrageous,” the political strategist said. “Now you got Cassie Hutchinson — up there as Joan of Arc — and now she’s going to change her testimony.”
