House GOP Leaders Formally Endorse Donald Trump

All GOP House leaders have formally endorsed Donald Trump for the 2024 presidential election. This move helps further clear the path for the former president to secure his place as the official Republican candidate as he consistently dominates the polls.

This announcement comes after Rep. Tom Emmer (R-MN) and Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) joined fellow GOP colleagues and announced both their endorsements for Trump this week, before the upcoming Iowa caucus.

In a comment posted to X, formerly known as Twitter — Emmer urged the Republican Party to support the “clear frontrunner,” Donald Trump, to ensure President Biden would not get elected for another term.

“Democrats have made clear they will use every tool in their arsenal to try and keep Joe Biden and his failed policies in power. We cannot let them. It’s time for Republicans to unite behind our party’s clear frontrunner, which is why I am proud to endorse Donald J. Trump for President,” Emmer asserted.

This eagerly anticipated endorsement reportedly happened after Trump thwarted Emmer’s efforts to take over the House Speaker position following former speaker Kevin McCarthy’s famous ousting.

In the former president’s attempt to prevent Emmer from becoming House Speaker, Trump made a post on social media calling Emmer out for being an anti-Trump RINO; claiming he “never respected the Power of a Trump Endorsement.”

Alongside Emmer, Scalise also issued his endorsement of Trump on Tuesday, saying he was “proud to endorse Donald Trump for president in 2024,” and that he looked forward to working with the former president and other House and senate republicans to fight for the struggling families that are being crushed under the weight of Biden’s policies.

These last two endorsements officially signal that House Republicans have reached an agreement to unite behind Trump to beat Democrats in November. This realization happened immediately after a brand new poll published on New Year’s Day found Trump to be leading among young and Hispanic voters against Biden.

Furthermore, a USA Today poll discovered that Trump beats out Biden among voters by 39% to 37%, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. earned the top third-party candidate spot with 10% of the vote. Trump has taken the lead among Hispanic voters, with 39% supporting him over Biden, who only garnered 34%.

The former president eagerly welcomed Emmer’s endorsement on Truth Social, writing “THANK YOU TOM, I WILL NEVER LET OUR COUNTRY DOWN!”
