Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley has gained the attention of China with her firm stance against China’s policies. Haley’s plan includes the cancellation of China’s normal trade relations until the flow of fentanyl into the United States ceases.

In response to Haley’s proposal, Liu Pengyu, a spokesman for the Chinese Embassy in Washington, DC, stated, “Pushing American companies to leave China runs counter to economic laws, and will ultimately harm everyone’s interests.”
Haley expressed that relations between the two nations would greatly improve if China stopped its pervasive actions such as sending fentanyl across the US border and engaging in business theft, espionage, and extortion.
Haley, the former governor of South Carolina and US ambassador to the United Nations presented her comprehensive vision and confronted China during an event at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, DC.
Focusing on the issue of fentanyl, Haley emphasized the drug claimed the lives of over 70,000 Americans in 2021, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, with more than 80,000 deaths the previous year. Haley stated, “We’ve tried sanctions, but they’re not working. We must ratchet up the pressure.”
She also highlighted the origin of precursor chemicals used by cartels to synthesize the drug, often tracing back to China. Another crucial element of Haley’s foreign policy towards China involves preventing Chinese buyers from acquiring American land. She argued that the line between Chinese investors and the Chinese Communist Party is exceptionally thin.
Haley also outlined her vision to halt the exportation of sensitive technology to China due to its reputation for intellectual property theft. Additionally, she advocated for restricting American investments in countries aligned with the Chinese Communist Party and blocking China’s purchase of American companies involved in creating advanced technologies.
Haley has made her stance clear on issues such as fentanyl trafficking, intellectual property theft, and Chinese investment in the United States. As the presidential campaign marches on, her outspoken disapproval towards China’s actions and its impact on US interests will likely help expand her fanbase and approval ratings.
