Colin Jost Praises Biden’s ‘Decency’ at White House Correspondents’ Dinner

“Saturday Night Live” cast member Colin Jost headlined the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday evening praising President Joe Biden for bringing “decency” to the White House while attacking former President Donald Trump.

In a sentimental moment during his speech, Jost spoke about his late grandfather Staten Island firefighter William Kelly who voted for Biden in 2020. “He voted for you and the reason that he voted for you is because you’re a decent man. My grandpa voted for decency and decency is why we’re all here tonight,” Jost said.

However, Jost’s praise for Biden’s “decency” ignores the blatant lack of decency that has been a hallmark of the president’s tenure. The Biden administration has been marred by scandals including LGBT activists getting half-naked at a White House event cocaine being found in the White House politicized and weaponized federal agencies targeting Biden’s opponents and the refusal to allow Christian symbolism during a White House Easter event among others.

Jost did make some jokes at Biden’s expense during the event making light of the president’s struggle to retain support among the Black community. “My ‘Weekend Update’ co-anchor Michael Che was going to join me here tonight but in solidarity with President Biden I decided to lose all my black support,” he quipped.

Despite the occasional jab at Biden, Jost quickly moved on to praising the president and attacking Trump.
