Watters: Trump Had ‘Every Legal Right’ To Submit Alternate Electors

Fox News host Jesse Watters offered a spirited defense of former President Donald Trump on a recent edition of “The Five.” This came in the wake of the latest outlandish indictment of the 2024 Republican frontrunner by the weaponized federal government.

Watters declared that every American has the freedom to be suspicious. And that liberty extends to the contentious and controversial 2020 presidential election that produced questionable electors.

The host used the hypothetical example of a hotly contested election in Detroit. He said the president would have every right to contact Michigan lawmakers and ask that they look into it.

He could also suggest an alternate slate of electors be put in place.

Special Counsel Jack Smith unveiled four new indictments against the former president over his questioning the results of the 2020 vote. First Amendment advocates are up in arms over the frightening implications these legal actions have on free speech.

The panelists on the Fox News program noted the high likelihood of Trump facing a hostile jury in a case presided over by a hardly impartial judge.

The result could be that the former president spends the rest of his life behind bars. And that’s exactly what many Democrats hope for.

Watters correctly noted that the 2020 COVID election saw the rejection of all signature requirements and most deadlines. Then millions of unsolicited ballots were sent everywhere “with no chain of custody.” Who would not be suspicious?

The host said that Trump sincerely believed the election was stolen and was not silent with that belief. “And he was trying to use everything in his power to push it as far as he possibly could all the way to the end. It just seems like that’s politics. Isn’t that just politics?”

At the same time, a prominent Georgia Republican stepped up to defend the former president.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene posted a video on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, blasting the destruction being done to the U.S. legal system.

And all in the name of jailing Biden’s leading rival.

The lawmaker charged that Trump is being indicted by a “jury of his peers,” which everyone knows are not his peers. She stated the fact that no conservative Republican will get a “fair trial” in the Washington D.C. judicial system.

Taylor-Greene rightly noted that both Hillary Clinton and Stacey Abrams crisscrossed the nation proclaiming their elections were “stolen.” The Georgia Republican called the Trump indictments “the greatest injustice.”

If Democrats truly have any concern about the “partisan divide,” just wait until the GOP frontrunner is snatched off the streets and put behind bars.
