Former member of the House of Representatives Tulsi Gabbard appeared on the Saturday broadcast of “Justice with Judge Jeanine” on Fox News and hammered Joe Biden on the administration’s immigration policies. Gabbard said Biden’s policy mistakes were causing humanitarian and national security crises.
A Democrat from Hawaii, Gabbard, said that the White House had instituted an “open-door” policy at the country’s borders. During the Biden administration, U.S. Border Patrol encounters with illegal border crossers have exploded. There were more than 200,000 such encounters in August, up more than three times in August 2020.
Referring to statements by Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Vice President Kamala Harris that illegal aliens should not “come to the border,” Gabbard said, “actions speak louder than words.”
She said that drug cartels and human traffickers are “incredibly emboldened” by the current border policy and feel now that they can continue the drug trade and smuggling people across the border “without consequence.”
Gabbard also said that Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has “boldly lied” to Congress when he said that “our borders are secure.” She said that level of “bold-faced” lying to Americans causes citizens to lose trust in politicians and the government. Gabbard added that the “faith and trust” the public needs to have in political leaders is “dropping every day.”
Mayorkas told Congress last month that its borders are currently “no less secure” than they were under the Trump administration. He testified that “the border is secure” and that “we are executing our plan.”
Gabbard stated that arrogant lying reveals politicians’ “self-serving nature” and disrespect for the people they allegedly serve. She added that the problem with U.S. border policy is that we have politicians who “put themselves ahead of the interests of the people.”
