Nobody forgets who supports dictators. While Biden says he supports the Cuban people, the Department of Homeland Security is doing everything but allowing them refugee status.
Biden said, “The United States stands firmly with the people of Cuba as they assert their universal rights. We call on the government to refrain from violence or attempts to silence the voice of the people of Cuba.” He treats Cubans the same as he did Black Lives Matter protesters in 2020. There’s a huge difference, though, and the Cuban people are oppressed.
And Donald Trump hasn’t forgotten that Obama went to a baseball game with the Castro brothers.
On July 12, 2021, Trump issued a statement, “Remember when Obama attended baseball games with Castos while they imprisoned, beat, and killed the Cuban people.”
Calling out elected leaders for hypocrisy has been one of Trump’s favorite things. America loves it, too. Just pay attention to Trump’s rally attendance and CPAC Straw Poll rating.
Their government has mistreated Cubans for over 60 years. Dictatorships and communism do not work. During the recent protests in Cuba, the authorities went so far as to black out the region. It’s expected that this was so coverage of the events taking place wouldn’t reach the world stage.
The people deserve power and freedom. They lose hope when they see United States Presidents support their dictators.
Trump went on to say, “Biden MUST stand up to the communist regime or history will remember.”
No doubt that history will remember, but will Biden remember?
The guy with cue cards he takes out to answer questions from store clerks will be Joe’s remembrance as President.
Not only has Biden promised to be soft on Cuba, but he has steadily been soft of Russia, so nobody is expecting any radical changes anytime soon.
Jen Psaki was asked about changing policies on Cuba and responded, “We, of course, are monitoring closely. You saw the statement the President, uh, we put out in the President’s name this morning.” Pause there. WHAT? Put out in the Presidents name?
Let’s continue, “in his voice, of course, conveying his support.”
My God, they can’t be serious. It’s dictators like Miguel Diaz-Cortez that probably watches these press briefings and laughs. Putin likely does the same.
Psaki can’t act like Biden is somehow strong against Dictators now, can she?
Trump is leading the country from his home in Mari Largo, it seems. No social media allowed for the former President, but his statements reach the world stage.
Biden can only take a soft stance on pretty much everything for so long before it becomes a massive deal for the U.S. We can only hope that he takes a hard stance on Cuba and follows through with the statement written for him.
