At a highly energized rally in North Carolina, President Donald Trump fiercely criticized Vice President Kamala Harris, describing her as a “radical leftist” and a “true threat to democracy.” Trump warned the packed audience, “She’ll destroy our nation.”
Trump’s sharp remarks against Harris come as she gears up to be the Democratic nominee for president following President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the race. Harris, who was placed at the top of the ticket by Democratic leaders, has been campaigning for just a few days. Trump dismissed her chances in the general election, proclaiming, “This November, the American people are going to tell her, ‘No thanks, Kamala. You’ve done a terrible job. You’ve been terrible at everything you’ve done… Kamala, you’re fired!'”
The former president emphasized Harris’s left-wing voting record during her Senate tenure, claiming she was the most extreme Democrat. “She makes Bernie [Sanders] look like a moderate,” Trump stated. He also accused Harris of lying about Biden’s cognitive health, saying, “If Kamala will lie to you so brazenly about Joe Biden’s mental incapacity, then she will lie to you about anything. She can never, ever be trusted.”
Trump also criticized Harris for not attending Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to Congress, accusing her of being “totally against the Jewish people” and suggesting that the Democratic Party is mistreating Jewish people amid the Israel-Hamas conflict. “Even if you’re against Israel or you’re against the Jewish people, show up and listen to the concept,” Trump said.
In his concluding remarks, Trump made it clear that he believes Harris is unfit for the presidency. “She is a very bad person and she shouldn’t be running for president,” he said. “She is a true threat to democracy. She’ll destroy our nation.”
