Trump Confirms He Will Be Arrested, Calls For Protests

Former President Donald Trump confirmed his arrest concerning the Manhattan district attorney’s investigation and called on his supporters to protest.

Daniels allegedly received the money through Michael Cohen, Trump’s former attorney. In 2018, Cohen pleaded guilty to violating campaign finance laws regarding payments made and received a three-year prison sentence, according to the New York Post.

On Truth Social, Trump, referencing himself, said the “LEADING REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE & FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, WILL BE ARRESTED ON TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK.”

“PROTEST, TAKE OUR NATION BACK!” Trump wrote, calling on supporters to protest his potential arrest.

“THEY’RE KILLING OUR NATION AS WE SIT BACK & WATCH. WE MUST SAVE AMERICA! PROTEST, PROTEST, PROTEST!!!.” Trump continued, referring to the Biden administration.

Trump insisted that he has committed no crime. He reminded his followers that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s campaign: is heavily funded by liberal billionaire George Soros.

Republicans rallied to Trump’s defense over his possible indictment.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) called Bragg’s efforts to prosecute Trump an “outrageous abuse of power” and said he is directing House committees to investigate the prosecution.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) claimed that Trump would “win even bigger” following a potential indictment, adding that Republicans who “cheer” over his indictment will be “exposed.”

Twitter CEO Elon Musk shared Greene’s prediction, suggesting that if an indictment occurs, “Trump will be re-elected in a landslide victory” in 2024.

Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX), who endorsed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) for president in 2024, said Trump’s possible indictment is “politically-motivated,” and called the justice system “politicized.”

Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) criticized Bragg, saying that the district attorney wants to turn the U.S. into a “third-world country.”

Vance added that reporters asked him if a Trump indictment would lead him to rescind his support of the former president.

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) blasted the “radical left” for using the strategies of “Socialist dictators” by reportedly arresting Trump.

GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy said, “a Trump indictment would be a national disaster.”

If Trump becomes indicted, he will be the first president in U.S. history to face criminal charges after leaving office.
