Republican leaders in Texas are investigating claims that Democrats are registering noncitizens to vote at pop-up tables outside Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) locations. The allegations were highlighted by Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo, who shared details from a friend who observed such activities at DMVs in Weatherford and Fort Worth.
Bartiromo’s post described immigrants lining up at the DMV for licenses, with voter registration tables set up nearby.
Local GOP officials, including Parker County Republican Party Chairman Brady Gray and Tarrant County GOP Chairman Bo French, expressed alarm and vowed to take action. Gray stated that the claims align with broader concerns about illegal voting and “replacement theory,” accusing Democrats of intentionally attempting to influence elections through questionable voter registration practices.
French echoed these sentiments, calling for immediate implementation of voter ID laws and stronger measures to prevent illegal voting.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton signaled his interest in the case by sharing Bartiromo’s post. He later released a statement reaffirming his office’s commitment to protecting election integrity, warning that those found illegally registering voters would face severe legal consequences.
The investigation highlights the growing tension over election laws and the GOP’s concerns that Democrats may be exploiting voter registration processes to gain an unfair advantage.
