Subpoenas Issued In Investigation Of VP’s Office Of Gun Violence Prevention And Ties To Everytown For Gun Safety

In a significant move, the House Oversight Committee has issued subpoenas to key figures in the Biden administration’s Office of Gun Violence Prevention (OGVP) as part of an investigation into alleged collusion with the anti-gun organization Everytown for Gun Safety. The committee, chaired by James Comer (R-Ky.), is probing the circumstances surrounding a private meeting between OGVP officials and Glock representatives, which may have influenced a high-profile lawsuit against the gun manufacturer.

During the December 20, 2023 meeting, the OGVP reportedly requested changes to Glock’s pistol designs to prevent illegal modifications. Shortly after, the City of Chicago filed a lawsuit against Glock, and Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety, publicly commented on the suit, indicating knowledge of discussions between the OGVP and Glock.

This connection raises serious concerns about the potential collusion between government entities and advocacy groups in crafting lawsuits that target the firearms industry. Comer has repeatedly sought documentation regarding any communication between the OGVP and Everytown, but Feldman has not cooperated, leading to accusations of a cover-up.

The subpoenas compel both Feldman and Dettelbach to provide testimony regarding their roles and any information shared between the OGVP and Everytown, further fueling the debate over the influence of advocacy groups on policy and legal actions surrounding gun control.
