Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance (R) has voiced concerns about whether President Donald Trump’s potential victory in the 2024 election would be accepted by powerful establishment forces, particularly the military. In an interview with Tucker Carlson, Vance outlined his fears that even if Trump wins, these forces might work to undermine his presidency.
Vance began by expressing his belief that Trump will win the 2024 election, either through a clear victory on Election Night or a closer result determined later. However, when Carlson asked if Vance thought the military would accept a Trump win, the senator responded, “That’s what worries me.”
Vance went on to explain that while voter fraud was not the major issue in 2020, ballot harvesting and Big Tech’s suppression of negative stories about Joe Biden played a significant role in the outcome. He expects these tactics to be used again but remains confident in Trump’s chances.
Carlson’s question about the military’s potential resistance to Trump’s leadership prompted Vance to agree that the establishment might attempt to block Trump’s policy initiatives. Vance pointed out that Washington, D.C.’s bureaucracy is misaligned with the values of much of the American population, which he sees as a significant threat to democracy.
Vance also warned that Trump’s efforts to deport millions of illegal immigrants would likely be labeled as “fascism” by critics, who would work to discredit his administration. He added that other financial tools, such as interest rates and the bond market, could be used to undermine Trump’s presidency.
Despite these concerns, Vance is optimistic about Trump’s chances, citing Kamala Harris’ poor polling numbers in key battleground states as an indication of the challenges Democrats face in 2024.
