Rep. Jordan Gets Behind Trump

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) became the highest-ranking House Republican to back former President Donald Trump’s 2024 bid for the White House. The nod also highlights a number of recent endorsements for the former president.

The Ohio Republican announced his support for Trump prior to his address to the National Rifle Association (NRA) conference in Indianapolis.

Jordan told Fox News that he liked all the potential Republican candidates, but that none “demonstrated that they will do what they said and get things done like he did, and he did it with everyone in that town against him.”

Jordan said that this was what he respected about the former president and that “I’m for him all the way.”

Jordan had been one of the most prominent defenders of the former president regarding the indictment by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D).

Jordan, as chair of the House Judiciary Committee, subpoenaed Bragg regarding the case. Bragg responded to Jordan’s criticism with a lawsuit. Jordan is seeking testimony from several of the individuals involved in the probe, both past and present.

Jordan is seeking answers about what influences caused Bragg to bring the indictment. He said that the House Judiciary Committee wants to know if there was “any involvement with the Biden Justice Department, with the White House, and how this all worked out.”

The prominent Republican is the latest in a string of endorsements for the former president.

Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL), a rising Republican star, endorsed the 45th president for 2024.

Donalds said that Trump was the “only one leader at this time in our nation’s history who can seize the moment and deliver what we need.”

Donalds is not the only prominent Florida Republican to endorse Trump in recent months. Trump already has the support of Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL).

It is unclear how Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) may counter the recent endorsements for Trump. Furthermore, Trump has taken a comfortable lead in many 2024 primary polls. One recent Fox News poll has the former president leading DeSantis 54-24%.
