Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) announced on Wednesday that she received a “very serious shooting threat” targeting her office. Luna claims that violent threats against Republicans are on the rise, pointing to what she calls the Democrats’ “campaign of division and hate” as a contributing factor.
Luna has been vocal about the dangers of escalating rhetoric, particularly following a second assassination attempt against Donald Trump. She expressed her determination to stand firm, posting on X, “I will not be threatened, intimidated, or bow down to those using violence.”
The shooting threat follows weeks of increasing harassment, with Luna being doxxed online. She reported that personal information, including her home address, was shared online, and that strangers were encouraged to send threatening packages to her home. Luna blames her Democratic opponent, Whitney Fox, for allowing doxxing to occur on her campaign’s social media.
Luna warned that rhetoric labeling Republicans as “threats to democracy” is creating a dangerous environment. She called on Democrats to take responsibility for the hostile political climate, stating, “When you label people a threat to democracy and attempt to dehumanize/lie about them, violence occurs.”
Law enforcement is currently investigating the threats, and Luna’s office has promised to keep the public updated as the situation develops.
