Progressive Groups Spend Big To Pass Abortion, Election Changes In Nevada

Left-wing dark money is pouring into Nevada as progressive groups aim to push through two radical ballot initiatives in the upcoming November elections. Millions of dollars are being funneled into campaigns supporting both abortion rights and ranked-choice voting (RCV), raising concerns about the influence of outside money on Nevada’s political process.

Nevadans for Reproductive Freedom, the political action committee behind Question 6, is pushing to create a “fundamental right to abortion” in Nevada’s constitution. The group raised $6.6 million last quarter, largely from well-known progressive organizations like the Advocacy Action Fund and the Tides Foundation. These groups have long supported left-wing causes, and their involvement in Nevada’s abortion debate is no surprise.

At the same time, another left-wing effort is underway to pass Question 3, which seeks to impose ranked-choice voting in the state. Critics argue that RCV is a confusing system that can lead to unexpected election outcomes, favoring certain candidates. Yes on 3, the group leading this initiative, received nearly $14 million in donations last quarter, with major contributions from groups like Unite America and Article IV.

Despite the heavy spending from progressive groups, there is significant opposition to both measures. Many Republicans and even some Democrats in Nevada have voiced concerns about the long-term impact of ranked-choice voting, arguing that it could disrupt the state’s election process.

As voters prepare to decide these crucial issues, the role of dark money in Nevada’s elections is raising questions about how much influence outside groups should have in shaping the state’s future.
