The PAC, funded by Elon Musk, recently hired Generra Peck and Phil Cox, both of whom were senior figures in Gov. Ron DeSantis’ presidential campaign, which has struggled to gain traction.
The decision to hire DeSantis allies has angered Trump loyalists, who fear that the failed tactics used in DeSantis’ campaign will now be applied to Trump’s reelection efforts. Peck and Cox dismantled the existing team, replacing Trump-aligned vendors with their own operatives just weeks before early voting begins.
LaCivita praised the shake-up, but many insiders are concerned that this move could hurt Trump’s chances in battleground states like Michigan, Wisconsin, and Arizona. DeSantis’ campaign was criticized for outsourcing key operations, and Trump supporters worry that America PAC’s reliance on DeSantis operatives could lead to similar issues.
Critics have also pointed out LaCivita’s history of sidelining loyal Trump voices in favor of establishment figures. They argue that bringing in DeSantis’ team is a risky move that could weaken Trump’s grassroots efforts.
Despite these concerns, Trump’s campaign is still supported by groups like Charlie Kirk’s Turning Point Action, which remain committed to helping the president win reelection.
