Actor Kirk Cameron reached out to more than 50 public U.S. libraries to hold story hour promoting his new biblically based children’s book ‘As You Grow.’ The libraries have ignored and rejected the proposal of a story hour for a book discussing family, faith, and bible-based wisdom. Story hour has been widely embraced nationwide for drag queens and pride events. Many libraries that have rejected Cameron’s request actively offer “drag queen” story hours for kids.
Fox News published current program listings on the library websites that prove their relationship with the LGBTQ story hour agenda. The programs offered by the libraries offer, push leftist agendas like gender fluidity, inclusion, and diversity. Other libraries started to provide “name change” clinics for teens who want to “transition.”
Cameron’s publisher, Brave Books, reached out to the libraries and shared the log of rejections with Fox News. The Rochambeau Public Library in Providence, Rhode Island, told Brave Books, “You can fill out the form to reserve space, to run the program in our space — but we won’t run your program. We are a queer-friendly library. Our messaging does not align.” Rochambeau Public Library promotes the “Queer Umbrella” club on its website, which offers queer history, art, and community resources for ages 12+.
The City Heights/Weingart Branch Library in San Diego, California, also denied the program proposal for Cameron’s story hour. The San Diego Library system hosts many year-round LGBTQ events and, according to its website, has a teen queer book club. The library declined based on a diverse community they didn’t want to offend.
Access to story hour time slots was denied in the Alameda County Library system, the Indianapolis Public Library, and the Scarsdale, New York Library. Todd Starnes, a conservative commentator for Fox News, criticized the library rejections on Twitter. Why is it that 50 taxpayer-funded libraries reject a faith-based story time hour?
50 taxpayer-funded libraries reject a story time for a faith-based book for kids written by Kirk Cameron. Those same libraries host queer story time hours. Gays are welcome, but God is not.

“This is proof more than ever, we are getting destroyed in the battle for the hearts and minds of our children,” Cameron told Fox News Digital. Publicly funded libraries will only allow gender ideology agenda to be promoted within their systems. Story hours that teach biblical wisdom pose a threat to the leftist agenda. Brave Books announced that for every purchase made on their website, a book that teaches pro-God and pro-family values would be donated to a library near the consumer.
