Since Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas and Israel have been engaged in a war, with the terrorists having taken hundreds of hostages, including Americans. Given President Joe Biden’s refusal to perceive strength on the global stage, most of the U.S. hostages are still being held captive by Hamas, except for a young girl related to a Biden administration appointee.
Shortly after Hamas brutally invaded the Holy Land on Oct. 7, 2023, Abigail Edan, a 4-year-old girl, was imprisoned by Hamas terrorists and taken into Gaza. Tragically, the young girl’s parents were mercilessly murdered. Edan was recently released by Hamas, marking the first American hostage to leave terrorist-ripe Gaza since the outbreak of the Middle East war.
The 4-year-old girl holds dual Israeli-American citizenship and is related to Liz Hirsch Naftali, a member of the U.S. Commission for the Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad, per Newsmax. Biden appointed Naftali to the position in July 2022.

Naftali is Edan’s great-aunt. She served on then-presidential candidate Biden’s National Finance Committee in 2020 and has close ties to the Democratic National Committee (DNC), per Newsmax.
It seems Naftali is also close to the Biden family, considering that she was willing to pay a hefty sum of money for one of Hunter Biden’s paintings.
Upon the release of her daughter from terrorist captivity, Naftali released a statement.
“We hoped and prayed today would come,” the Naftali family said in a statement, as reported by The Washington Post. “There are no words to express our relief and gratitude that Abigail is safe and coming home.”
Biden said he spoke with Edan’s family after the little girl’s release.
“I spoke with Abigail’s family following her release, and we are working closely with our Israeli partners to ensure she gets the care and support she needs as she begins to recover from this unspeakable trauma,” he said.
National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby said that despite Edan’s release, “eight to nine” Americans remain in Hamas’ captivity.
Politico reporter Daniel Lippman argued that Edan’s release won’t do much good to the president, whose approval rating seems to diminish day after day. Instead, the reporter said that for the president to improve politically, all U.S. hostages must be released by Hamas.
“The polls have been terrible for Biden and all of this, does this diplomacy help him with the American people right now? I think he can,” Lippman said. “I agree … that he can point to this and saying, ‘Hey, I’m getting Americans back.’”
“But we’re so far, we’ve only had one American back. There’s a number of them still left in custody in Hamas jails, and so he has to get every single American back until he reaps some type of political reward,” he added.
