FBI Searches For Terror Suspects After Deadly Attack In New Orleans

Federal investigators are pursuing suspects connected to a New Year’s terror attack in New Orleans. Shamsud-Din Jabbar, 42, killed 10 and injured 30 in a combined vehicle and shooting assault, with the FBI confirming links to a likely terror cell.

Jabbar carried an ISIS flag during the attack, authorities said. His truck contained firearms and improvised explosive devices, hidden in coolers and wired for remote activation. A detonator was recovered, indicating the attack was premeditated.

Surveillance footage revealed three men and a woman placing bombs in the French Quarter. FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge Alethea Duncan said investigators are aggressively pursuing leads and seeking public assistance to identify all individuals involved.

During a press briefing, Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) stated that the FBI is “trying to catch the other bad guys.” Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry confirmed that multiple suspects are being sought and described them as “bad people” who pose a significant threat.

Federal agents searched the home of Jabbar’s ex-wife, whose current husband described Jabbar as having recently exhibited erratic behavior linked to his conversion to Islam. Officials are examining all potential ties to extremist networks.

The FBI Hostage Rescue Team has reportedly deployed to New Orleans, with flight tracker data showing their aircraft en route. The team specializes in high-stakes operations, which may include dismantling the suspected terror cell.
