FBI Director Pledges Crackdown On Swatting After Conservative Figures Targeted

After a spike in swatting attacks against conservative commentators and media figures, FBI Director Kash Patel has vowed to take action. In a March 14 statement on X, Patel confirmed that federal authorities are working to track down those responsible.

According to Gateway Pundit, independent journalist Nick Sortor was swatted along with members of his family. The report states that a false emergency call led to law enforcement responding to his father’s home. Prior to the incident, an individual had reportedly sent an email labeling Sortor a “Nazi,” suggesting a politically motivated attack.

The Daily Mail detailed the case of Chase Geiser, a conservative media personality who was swatted twice within 12 hours. Police were called to his home in response to a false report that he had threatened his family. Officers later determined the call was a hoax.

Meanwhile, The Post Millennial reported that conservative influencer Gunther Eagleman was also targeted. The outlet noted that a caller falsely reported a hostage situation at his residence, prompting a police response. Eagleman later credited his local law enforcement for handling the situation responsibly.

Patel addressed the growing concern, stating that the FBI is “fully committed to working with local law enforcement to crack down on these crimes.” He also stressed that these incidents place both innocent individuals and officers at risk.

The FBI’s decision to launch an investigation comes amid rising concerns that these attacks are politically motivated. Many conservative figures have been swatted multiple times, leading to fears that the tactic is being used to silence right-leaning voices.

No arrests have been reported yet, but Patel assured that his team will provide more updates as the investigation unfolds.
