Effort To Block Trump Certification Exposes Left’s Contempt For Voters

Two leftist lawyers have launched a controversial push to prevent President-elect Donald Trump from taking office, urging Congress to disqualify him under the 14th Amendment. Critics say the effort undermines democracy and ignores the will of the electorate.

Evan Davis and David Schulte allege Trump engaged in “insurrection,” a claim rejected by the Senate during his second impeachment trial. Though seven Republicans voted to convict Trump, the trial ended in acquittal.

The lawyers also cite the Colorado Supreme Court’s disqualification of Trump, which the U.S. Supreme Court later overturned. The high court ruled that states cannot block federal candidates, rendering the Colorado decision irrelevant.

They further rely on findings from the discredited January 6 Committee. Allegations of witness tampering and false testimony have damaged the committee’s credibility, casting doubt on its conclusions.

Davis and Schulte propose using the Electoral Count Act to reject Trump’s votes and install Kamala Harris as president. Critics say the plan disregards constitutional norms and represents an outright betrayal of voters.

Evidence from the House Oversight Committee has debunked many of the claims against Trump, including allegations that he incited violence on January 6.
