Donald Trump Jr. has called on Republicans to remain vigilant and not become complacent about his father’s prospects in the 2024 general election. Speaking to Axios from Milwaukee, where the Republican National Convention is taking place, Trump Jr. emphasized the need for continuous effort and dedication as the election approaches.
“People are like, ‘Oh, after Saturday it’s over,'” Trump Jr. said, referring to the recent failed assassination attempt on his father during a Pennsylvania rally. He warned, “Nothing is over,” and stressed the importance of maintaining momentum. “We must keep our foot on the gas every second of the day,” he insisted.
Trump Jr. expressed concern about potential tactics from the opposition, stating, “There’s no level the other side won’t go. There’s no nonsense they won’t play.” He suggested that if his father were to lose, it could be due to “cheating” by Democrats.
He also highlighted the significance of downballot races, noting the GOP’s need to secure control of the Senate while maintaining their majority in the House. “We have to win across the board, not just congressional or Senate races. I want to win legislatures, I want to win school boards,” Trump Jr. stated.
Addressing the influence of media mogul Rupert Murdoch, Trump Jr. remarked that Murdoch’s power among conservatives “is not what it used to be.” He added, “There was a time when if you wanted to survive in the Republican Party, you had to bend the knee to him or to others. I don’t think that’s the case anymore.”
As the campaign heats up, Trump Jr.’s message underscores the GOP’s strategy to stay focused, work hard, and remain vigilant against any potential challenges from their opponents.
