Aurora Residents Terrorized By Venezuelan Gang As City Moves To Shut Down Apartment Complex

A violent gang from Venezuela, known as Tren de Aragua (TdA), has reportedly taken over an apartment complex in Aurora, Colorado, leaving residents in fear for their lives. The gang, which has a history of criminal activities in Venezuela, has now brought its operations to the United States, with Aurora being one of its latest targets.

The Edge apartment complex at 1568 Nome St., near Colfax and Peoria, has become a hub for the gang’s activities. Videos circulating on social media show gang members openly carrying firearms as they roam the hallways, creating a climate of fear among the residents. Cindy Romero, a tenant at the complex, described the situation as a “nightmare,” detailing how she and her husband had to fortify their apartment with multiple locks to feel somewhat secure.

In response to the escalating situation, the city of Aurora has cited several code violations and is moving to close the complex. CBZ Management, which manages The Edge, has voiced its frustration, stating that the gang’s presence has made it impossible to conduct necessary maintenance and repairs.

The Aurora Police Department has acknowledged the gang’s presence but has downplayed the extent of their influence, describing it as “isolated.” However, for the residents living in the complex, the danger feels far from isolated. The gang is involved in a range of violent activities, including human trafficking, drug smuggling, and extortion, which have now spread to the Aurora community.

City Council member Danielle Jurinsky has been vocal about the lack of support for the residents, criticizing the city’s focus on assisting migrants while leaving American citizens to fend for themselves.

The situation in Aurora is a stark reminder of the challenges posed by transnational criminal organizations and the impact they can have on local communities. As the city moves to shut down the complex, residents remain on edge, hoping for a resolution that will restore peace and security to their neighborhood.
