Amazon Driver Dumps Holiday Packages On Massachusetts Road Before Christmas

In a pre-Christmas mishap, an Amazon delivery driver caused local concern after abandoning over 80 packages along a roadside in Lakeville, Massachusetts. Sergeant Shawn Robert discovered the carefully placed Amazon bags during a routine patrol around 2 am Sunday morning.

The Lakeville Police quickly investigated the mysterious package dump. After examining the contents at their local station, officers contacted the nearest Amazon distribution center to recover the potential holiday gifts.

The driver voluntarily came forward on Monday, explaining the package abandonment was a result of extreme job stress. Local law enforcement chose a compassionate approach to the incident. “We are not seeking criminal charges and are considering this a human resources matter for Amazon,” said Chief Matthew Perkins.

The situation highlights the mounting pressures faced by delivery workers during the holiday season. Amazon recently increased its starting minimum wage for warehouse staff and drivers by 20%, with average salaries now reaching $22 per hour.

Concurrent with this incident, Amazon warehouse workers in multiple states launched a strike just days before Christmas. Despite union actions involving seven facilities, Amazon maintains that the strike will minimally impact holiday deliveries. The company reports the strike involves approximately 1% of their total workforce.

The package recovery ensured local residents would likely receive their Christmas gifts, with Sergeant Robert’s attentive patrol potentially saving numerous holiday deliveries from being lost.
